The adviser adding a service
She has arranged mortgages for the same families for fifteen years. Every few months a client mentions that a parent has died and nothing was in order, or asks whether they should do something about a will now the children have arrived.
She has always had nowhere to send them. Life Planning turns a conversation she was having anyway into a service, and gives her a reason to speak to every client on her book again.

Years of working with older people and their families has given her an unusual skill: she can raise capacity, care funding and end-of-life wishes without the room going cold.

What the work actually looks like
This is a composite example built to show the shape of an engagement. It is not a real client and not a guarantee of any outcome.
A couple in their late fifties. He has a will from a previous marriage. She has none. Two adult children between them, one from each side. They came to a talk you gave at a local golf club.
Ninety minutes at their kitchen table. You work through the family, the property, the pensions, the accounts and what each of them assumes will happen. Two of those assumptions turn out to be wrong.
A written Life Plan a week later. It shows that his will still names his first wife as executor, that neither has powers of attorney, that the house is held in a way neither of them realised, and that her pension nomination is twenty years out of date.
Because of the second marriage and the property position, this goes to a solicitor, not a template will. You introduce one, you brief them properly, and you stay in the loop.
Two sessions building their full estate record into the secure vault, so their children would not be starting from nothing. This is the part they thank you for.
An annual review. A grandchild has arrived, they have bought a caravan, and his mother has gone into care. Half the plan needs updating. You are now their person, and they have recommended you to four friends.
